Seventeen people were hurt today in a collision between a truck and an Orange Line bus at Oxnard Street and Woodman Avenue, including one critical injury, officials said. The cause of the 3:45 p.m. crash was under investigation, officials said. The accident occured about a week before the one-year anniversary of the 14-mile-long busway across the San Fernando Valley. The line has fewer accidents than the Blue Line light-rail system and is the safest bus line in the system, transit officials said. Its opening weeks were marred by accidents, including one that injured 15 people. Officials subsequently spent more than $1 million in safety precautions, such as photo-enforcement cameras.
