ESPN: This 2-Loss Team Could Make College Football Playoff

Unranked Purdue spanked Ohio State 49-20 to hand the Buckeyes their first loss of the year.Despite the loss, Ohio State still has a shot at the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes can win out, win the Big Ten, and hope a Big Ten conference title is enough to make the playoff this year – though it wasn’t quite enough in 2017.ESPN named the 15 teams still eligible to make the playoff – Ohio State among them. Interestingly, there was also a two-loss team among those in the list.ESPN’s “Eliminator” thinks Texas A&M still has a chance to make the playoff.What if the Aggies win out, LSU beats Alabama, then A&M beats the Tigers and finds a way into the SEC title game, in which they beat a one-loss Georgia or Florida? Even that might not earn a spot. But it could, which is reason enough to keep the Aggies alive with their losses to the two best teams nationally.A two-loss team in the playoff?This conversation will resolve itself over the course of the final weeks of the season, though it’s fun to predict which teams will vie for a title come January.[ESPN]last_img
