(Photo by Tim Bradbury/Getty Images)Alabama football had a weird first half against FCS squad The Citadel, which became the first team to score a point against the Crimson Tide this month. The game went to halftime 10-10. For the rarely satisfied Nick Saban, it might’ve been the ideal outcome, as it gave him reason to motivate the team that some believe may go down as one of the best in college football history.Ultimately, things went the way you’d expect after the break. Alabama cruised out to a 50-17 win.Still, the game showed that the Tide can be a bit vulnerable in spots, and it had an impact on ESPN’s Football Power Index. After yesterday’s college football action, Clemson has jumped Alabama football for the No. 1 spot in ESPN’s FPI.There has been a bit of a narrative that Clemson isn’t that far off of Alabama growing, and FPI certainly supports it.The Tigers knocked off a solid Duke team 35-7. After next weekend’s rivalry clash with South Carolina, Clemson will officially face Pittsburgh for the ACC title.FPI gives Clemson a 95.7-percent chance to win the conference. Alabama is at 64.5-percent chance, since Georgia is a pretty talented club in the eventual SEC title bout.[ESPN]last_img
